Allahabad ki Tehri or Allahabad Rice
This is a rice variety which suits for breakfast, lunch, tiffin box brunch. It’s a one pot rice meal. The recipe source is from a television show. This is our family favorite rice dish. Its aromatic rice served usually with ghee on top. It’s easy peasy recipe for beginners.

Serves: 4 nos
Basamati rice -2 cups
Veggies – baby potatoes (half boiled pierced using fork), beans, carrot, peas.
Dry fruits chopped (cashew, raisins, almonds) -1 cup
Curd -3/4 cup
Onion finely chopped -1/2 cup
Ginger garlic finely chopped -1 tbsp
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 2 tsp
Jeera powder -1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1 tsp
Garam Masala – 2 tsp
Amchur powder -1 tsp
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Oil as required
Ghee -2 tsp
- Soak rice for 1 hour. Take oil and ghee in cooker pan, add musdard seeds, saute well.
- Add onion, ginger, garlic, saute well. Now add dry fruits, saute well, all Masala powder, fry on low flame.
- Now add curd, fry for 2-3 mins on low flame. Add veggies, soaked rice, salt fry well.
- Add required quantity of water, close the lid and pressure cook until done. Serve hot.
This one pot rice can be prepared using whole spices. I have used garam masala here. Generous use of ghee gives a nice flavor to the rice.
